Panorama has five social workers assigned to Independent Living residents. Assisted living and Convalescent/Rehab have their own social workers. The IL social workers help in numerous ways with issues associated with finding and navigating services, agencies, etc.

We are person-centered advocates provided to you at no-cost thanks to the generous sponsorship from Panorama's Benevolent Fund. In some cases, aging presents changes and complexity that require skilled navigation of social, medical, financial and family systems. Emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of aging are considerations of equal importance to that of physical ones. Social Services hosts support groups to provide a safe space to learn, listen, and rejuvenate.

Social Service Advisors can assist with:

Newcomer visits to share information about Panorama's services

Education on long term care at Panorama including Assisted Living, C&R, Home Care and Long Term Care policy review.

Transition assistance for assisted living or the C&R

Memorial Services

Support Groups

Aging, grief and loss

Referrals to agencies, programs and services

Resource library

Resident Emergency Information updates

Our 'Resident life' department is staffed by social workers. They don't offer counseling, so far as I know, but do coordinate notifications to the designated power of attorney or family to cope with emergencies. Our resident health practitioners would refer people to local professionals as warranted

Our facility of around 600+ residents has one social worker dedicated to independent living only. (The regulated parts have two social workers).

Independent Living (IL) Social workers are master problem solvers who have specialized training in assisting people while keeping that person's unique situation and desires center stage. The open up options and help people see the possible. Because of their training and experience, they can save an individual a lot of time and frustration trying to navigate complex social/medical systems for the first time. The are professionally bound to strict confidentiality if requested.

Residents of CCRCs have the same problems as any other demographic in our society, social, relationship, family, healthcare, financial, etc. If you can think of it, it happens in CCRCs and social workers help. Ours social worker is a community treasure.
